The Best and Only Reporting in Valorn.Issue 8

What's Hot, What's Not: From Islander's Flare for Fashion to Balthy's Breath mints. A Vogue Valornian's Must Have.

Fashioning an Ultimate Warrior

Where some stride, and others saunter, High Lord Islander the Demon Slayer can only be described as stalking elegantly through Valorn. Ascribed by many to be the ultimate warrior, Islander is an imposing figure. His tanned, muscular physique is adorned with various tribal tattoos and heavily muscled providing the perfect setting to show off his impressive array of color coordinated armors.

Islander's love of his Blade of the Beast dictates the tones and shades of his attack armor. The Blade as black as the midnight sky is highlighted by a faint violet aura coming from the hilt. Extremely large and powerful, like the man that wields it, the massive weapon demands some delicate balance of grays and rose shading into mauve armor to not over power the look of subdued elegance he strives for.

Islander has been seen carefully selecting and rearranging items with strength boosts to offset the weight of this blade. The shading of his N'rolav War Armor Chest Plate from pale gray to deeper tones complements the carbon shaded strength of his massive thighs adorned by Dark Plate Legs. Surprising hints of flame flow from his Magma Ash Boots to add that touch of excitement every outfit needs to take it from the ordinary to the sublime.

Although few can imagine this exquisite warrior ever having to revert to defensive mode, Islander candidly admits there is more to battle than those of us of a lesser level can ever imagine. His perfect physique is then attired in items that glow with the speed of his passage. Islander moving at full dexterity is a sight that has caused many an adventurer to stand and stare in admiration. From the jaunty hints of jonquils in his giant ant carapace helm to his lightly shod feet below, speed and stealth are the order of the day, and woe betide the monster that confronts Islander in this attire.

Whether garbed for attack or stealthy defense, the elegant presentation of armor on Valorn's hero, High Lord Islander the Demon Slayer, wins the fashion award of the year.

Branishor Wasn't Built in a Day, but The Shrouded Sun Was

Much to the chagrin of those at the Shrouded Sun, the Town Crier echoed that Forest Bandits had begun looting our headquarters. This left quite a dilemma, as the Bandits had the knowledge of where the actual building was while the staff had no idea whatsoever.

Cerberus was heard to exclaim, "I will check the Wastelands!" One wonders why Forest Bandits might invade the Wastelands, but then again, one does not argue with one's editor. After much searching, I finally had the bright idea to check near the forest.

Due east of the Dark Forest Entrance laid an enormous castle. Across the lake from that lay the Shrouded Sun Headquarters, almost outshining the castle itself. Assured of my heading, I walked the path swiftly and obviously stealthy, as the Bandits paid me no mind.

I got there just in time to find a lone Forest Bandit– distracted from his original goal of filing a job application– looting the deserted lobby. But, it just so happens that Cerberus and Richard stumbled in at the time to prod and blind the poor man, who merely glared at them and continued looting / applying.

Then along came Fleur, self proclaimed Health Inspector, to check the new building out to make sure it had all the necessary permits. The particularly grungy Bandit turned his head just in time to get smacked by the broad side of a well handled Broadsword.

Give the Dog a Bone

Valorn's cleverest were baffled recently when a so called 'dog boy' was discovered. Pietro Rader, one of Dundee's growing population of village idiots, was seen barking, fetching, and generally acting canine.

What did Pietro Rader have to say in his defense? "Ruff!"

Scooter is rumoured to be jealous of his competition, and all adventurers are advised to be especially loving of Scooter and to simply ignore any puppy impersonators.

We will have more as this bizarre situation unfolds. On another note, Enroshia has invented a new Dundee pastime: "Want to play kick the fool who thinks he's a dog?"

Ask Balthazar

Dear Balthazar,

Every time, I visit the swamps I feel un-welcomed and hated. Snakes keep biting me, and ivy keeps tripping me up. I seem to attract aggression wherever I go. Is there anything I can do to make them like me?

~Down in the Bogs

Dear Boggled Swamp-Trudger,

One word: Gingivitis. Not only does it rot the gums, but all monsters hate morning breath. And for the adventurer on the go, 4 out of 5 Clerics recommend Balthy's Breath Mints which comes in three flavors, Centurion, Scout, and New Plains Cat!
